His Beauty for My Ashes
My Chapter:
My chapter of the book, His Beauty for my Ashes, is about how God as our Father and Creator can heal our earliest and most tender wounds (in our hearts). There’s this longing and need for love that we were all born with. There’s this need for belonging into a family and our identoty is established in the 1st 5 years of our lives.
I had a seed of rejection that wounded me subconsciously as a baby born the “wrong” gender. For years I felt uncomfortable in my own skin and in my teenage years this peaked into self-rejection, feelings of worthlessness and even self-hate. I felt unworthy of love and so ashamed of my growing feminity that I hid behind boy clothes and food until I eventually became obese and started questioning my worth…depression eventually settled in.
You see, I grew up in church, but I didm’t personally know God as my Father and Creator. Everyone has a deep need to know our orgin, our purpose and to be accepted by the One who made us (as little children, we usually look to our mom or dad, or the people who raise us for this validation). Sadly, not all of us are welcomed and accepted in our earliest stages of life by our family and this rejection is felt by us because we are intelligent, eternal beings with living souls.
I love the scripture that says “And God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath/Spirit of life and man became a living soul…” -Genesis 2:7
Adam’s first memory as a created being was waking up in the exhale of God. He had face to face contact with his heavenly Father. The 1st thing he saw when he opened his eyes was his Father and Creator who extended such love to him that He breathed life into his body by the Holy Spirit. Adam woke up in paradise (the Garden of Eden) with the countenance of God radiating upon him.
For me, God reached back all the way into my earliest memories and the feelings of rejection and took me into a vision that affirmed my birth, gender and identity. He healed my most tender memory and I had a vision of Heaven and saw how He created me with joy, delight, and I became rooted in the loving care and goodness of my heavenly Father.
I pray this book, written by myself and an amazing team of authors, aids in your healing journey of discovering the divine dignity and worth you were created for. You are eternally loved and valued by God and there is nothing that’s happened to you can change that.
